Egor Dmitriev, an artist in the third generation, was born in Moscow. Egor spent most of his childhood in the "cradle of Moscow conceptualists", in the studios under the roof of the legendary building of the late XIX century, built by the insurance company "Russia" on Sretensky Boulevard. The eponymous art group, born during "neighbor" talks about art, settled right here. This talks were attended by S. Anufriev, P. Pepperstein, V. Fedorov, A. Sobolev, A. Nasonov, A. Smirnsky, E. Kemerovsky, V. Tenyaev, D. Lukanin and others. Egor's parents, artists Ivan Dmitriev and Lyudmila Blok, became ideological inspirers of the «Russia» art group. Today Egor lives and works in Moscow, representing the younger generation of the group «Russia».
In 1999 Egor Dmitriev graduated with the gold medal from the Lyceum of the Russian Academy of Arts. From 2000 to 2003 he continued his studies at the New Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg.
About the group "Russia":
"The reference to the old masters is not the goal of the artists of the «Russia» group. It is important for them to keep the entire history of the development of art in their minds, rather than be on the ecstatic edge of the vector of this development" - S. Anufriev
The group "Russia" consists of the Blok-Dmitriev family (Ivan Dmitriev, Lyudmila Blok, Egor Dmitriev) and their close friend, Dmitriy Lukanin. The canvases of the group represent the junction of realism and classicism or, as described by Elena Selina, made «between schematism and hyperrealism». The group carried out several art projects and held a number of exhibitions in collaboration with various artists. It worked with the group «Medical Hermeneutics», as well as separately with Pavel Pepperstein, Sergey Anufriev and several representatives of Neo-Academism.Read moreHide
