Cosmoscow 2020

Published on September 10, 2020

The central theme of this year’s Cosmoscow program is the question of unity, solidarity and coexisting, despite closed borders and cultural isolation in the face of a global pandemic. Walking through Moscow’s near-empty streets made it possible for Tim Parchikov to see the city’s architecture ever so clearly. Nonetheless, he specifically attends to the “decorative” elements of quarantine - signal tapes. He constantly leans from positive to negative and vice versa, and it seems that the image of the fence is what catches his eye the most — what worries him. He asks himself the following: Is the fence there for protection or is it an obstacle?

Orekhov resolves the question, posed by this year’s program, as an interpretation and reflection. Gregory invites the viewer to self-reflect through the mirrored surface, reminisce and drift-off.
